Dear Valued Client:
Today, President Barack Obama signed into law the health reform bill that was approved by the House of Representatives on Sunday. This law will have important implications for employers who offer health benefits and the employees and families covered by those plans. The law, as it stands now, allows for some changes to take place in the near future while others will not take affect for several years.
We know you and your employees will have questions and concerns about healthcare reform and how it will impact your plan. We are closely following the legislation and the implications to employer-sponsored benefit plans. At this time, the Bill of Reconciliation passed by the House of Representatives on Sunday is expected to be debated in the Senate this week. This bill contains proposed changes to the health reform law that was signed earlier today. Therefore, until the consideration of the Bill of Reconciliation is complete, we will not know the final details regarding the legislation.
Once there is legislative clarity, we will provide you with a summary of changes and timing for these changes. As your trusted benefits advisor, we will ensure that you are informed about this law's impact to your plan and employees.
Sincerely,
Landry, Harris & Co.
